Given the choice, would you rather live in New York, Vancouver, or Montreal?
My employer has offered me the chance to move to one of our offices in New York, Vancouver, or Montreal – same job, slightly higher salary/responsibilities, fully reimbursed for moving costs, and they can get me a work visa without any issue. I’m 24 years old, single, no children. I’ve been to – and liked – all three cities, but never for more than a week or two.
My family all live overseas and I am quite content staying in North America, so that’s not an issue. I should mention, also, that I really love the company I’m working for and don’t intend to leave it anytime soon.
I enjoy travelling, any outdoor activities, meeting people, partying, reading, film, music.
Thoughts?

Moving to Montreal: In which neighbourhood should I live?
Any Montrealers in the know that can help me decide where to live?
- 21-year-old starting at the Faculty of Law at McGill
- Fluent in both English and French (no preference with either)
- 2.5/3.5 in $600-$850 range; I don’t need luxury, but decent.
- I’m not wild or crazy and am pretty mild with parties and such, but I still want to be in an area with fun stuff to do.
I’m looking to learn more about the Plateau, Westmount/Concordia/Atwater area, the McGill Ghetto, but also wanting to learn more specifically about Rosemont/Little Italy, Verdun/LaSalle, and Cote-des-Neiges. What’s best? Are there certain areas I should avoid? (Unsafe, overpriced, inconvenient, etc.?)
If you suggest certain areas (say..the Plateau), would you mind being more specific as to certain cross-streets or specific areas that might help me narrow it down?
Thank you much.
