Dr. Vinayshil Gautam’s Latest Book on the Changing Scenario of International Finance & Trends Ahead “International Finance Revisited&quo
The latest book by Dr. Vinayshil Gautam, “International Finance Revisited” is a consummate and complete analysis of the foundations of International Finance. It offers, among other observations and solutions, a comparative analysis of the emerging trends and makes practical suggestions about safeguards to optimize growth strategy and corporate development.
Widely published, Dr. Gautam is recipient of several Fellowships and Awards including Fellowship of the Royal Asiatic Society, London; Association of Business Executives, UK; ARTDO International, Manila; All India Management Association, Delhi; G-51 Millennium Award of IAEWP (an affiliate of United Nations – ECOSOC, UNDPI, UNCED, UNICEF, UNESCO). He is the A. Al_Sager Chair Professor of Management at IIT Delhi.
Ever since the current patterns of globalization acquired transnational overtones for business and manufacturing, understanding International Finance has become an integral component of any professional or investor’s intellectual capital. Dr. Gautam’s latest book also deals with sectoral perspectives in investments and organizational growth, financial instruments in capital markets, key elements in strengthening Indian capital market, the ways for capital market reforms and a viable approach to the nature and scope of investment to work sustainably. He has included a critical analysis of corporates such as Bharti Airtel; Tata Motors; Ranbaxy and Pantaloon among others.
“Sustainable development is not a matter of chance. Especially in a nation as diverse as India where there are over 1.1 billion people as stakeholders, actively revisiting the grey areas of administrative bottlenecks, public distribution systems and economic vigilance are imperative in a rapidly changing world scenario,” surmises Dr. Gautam.
Some Reviews of ‘International Finance Revisited’
Mr. Deepak S Parekh, Chairman HDFC, Ltd. reviews, “The Exploration of boundaries between the act of investment and finding secure and organized methods of doing so, is one of the classical searches in the Finance area. In a delightfully readable style, Dr. Gautam has explored the concerns of governance and organization design of finance-related organizations and institutions. This fills a serious void and could well be a contributor to giving a constructive slant to the shape of things to come in the area of international finance. Dr. Gautam’s effort, meant for the scholar and lay reader alike, is indeed a worthy one.”
Mr. Sunil Kant Munjal, Chairman, Hero Corporate Services Ltd., Former President, CII: “Prof. Vinayshil Gautam’s writings interest and fascinate me for two reasons. First, I relish the way in which he observes processes, and links them with the evolution of ideas in a particular domain. I also admire his perceptive analysis, which he bases on authentic and verifiable data. These two attributes are clearly evident in the book, ‘International Finance Revisited’. With his usual erudition, Dr. Vinayshil has produced a treatise cutting across financial concerns, strategy and organization development. He dwells brilliantly on how to go about reconstructing the transactional, the regulatory and the governance architecture of the post-slump period. Written in a very readable through many one-liners, I have enjoyed going through the book.”
Mr. Richard Rekhy, Head of Advisory, KPMG: “Recently, the global financial system has suffered its greatest crisis in 75 years. As the economies try to bounce back with better investment climate, Dr. Gautam’s book captures the core issues of investments beginning from evolution of financial globalization to the formulation of international financial regulations. The book covers regional patterns of investments, examines the growing importance of sovereign wealth funds and its political implications…analyses the flow of capital from different sources and its role in shaping the organizational structures in some of the leading organizations. Dr. Gautam very aptlyconcludes the book with India-specific policy propositions and their implications and possible future directions. The book is a must for students, policy makers and enthusiastic readers.”
Dr. Gautam has been a consultant, among other Ministries and Organizations, to the Ministry of External Affairs, Human Resources Development, Rural Development and to the Central Bureau of Investigations. He has been intimately involved with the administrative reforms initiatives of the Government of India including serving on the committee that went into the terms of reference of the administrative reforms commission and subsequently overseeing the training activities of senior IAS officers.
Dr. Vinayshil Gautam is an internationally acclaimed management expert. Among other assignments, he has served as Founder Director, IIM (K); Leader, Consulting Team, IIM (Shillong) and First Head, Management Department, IIT Delhi. He has represented India in the activities of UNESCO and Asian Productivity Organization. He has addressed audiences from Montreal to Melbourne and Caracas to Tokyo besides being Visiting Faculty to Universities such as Cambridge, Sussex, London, Brunel, Toronto, York, Dominican, Duke and Penn State. He has practiced Management Development activities in Germany, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia and some of the finest organizations in India.
